Short answer: decide the patch format, size and packaging level first; ask the factory for stock samples before custom ones; plan for a private-label run of about 2,000 sets on most lines (trial runs can start around 100 sets with us); and have your importer confirm the formula and label rules of your market before artwork is final.
Most delays in OEM patch projects come from an incomplete brief rather than from production. This guide follows the order in which a project actually runs at our plant in Hubei.
1. Write a brief the factory can quote
| Decide | Options |
|---|---|
| Format | Black plaster, cataplasm, hydrogel, PU film, far-infrared, herbal acupoint patch |
| Size and shape | 9×12 cm and 13×16 cm are common; shaped knee and neck patches; small acupoint sizes |
| Backing | Non-woven, spunlace, elastic cloth, PU or PET film; white or skin color |
| Formula | Factory standard or your own herbal formula |
| Packaging level | Bare patches in bulk, individual sachets, retail box, full private label |
| Market | Country and channel (pharmacy, retail, online, clinic) |

2. Understand MOQ before you negotiate price
MOQ depends mainly on packaging, not on the patch itself: printed sachets, boxes and leaflets have their own minimums. At our plant, customized trial runs start from about 100 sets and private-label runs from about 2,000 sets on most lines. Bare patches in bulk are quoted by quantity.
3. Sample in two rounds
- Stock samples of standard patches to compare formats, adhesion and feel.
- Custom samples once formula, size and backing are fixed. Test them in your own conditions (heat, humidity, wear time) before approving.

4. Check compliance before artwork
A pain patch may be a cosmetic, a general consumer product, a traditional herbal product or a medical device depending on the country and the claims on the box. Practical rules:
- Ask for the full ingredient list of the core and have your regulatory contact review it.
- Write claims for your market, not translated from the Chinese box. Uses on our site describe China registration categories or traditional use and are not claims for other markets.
- China registrations do not transfer abroad. If the product is a medical device in your market, the importer registers it locally; the factory supplies the technical information.
5. Production and quality checks
Our patches are produced in Class 100,000 cleanroom workshops under an ISO 9001 quality system. Agree on what you will check per batch (size, core weight, adhesion, packaging print) and keep a retained sample of each batch.
